Working towards a Zero-Incident Safety Culture

Goal Zero decorative text

MRC’s employees are extremely proud of our safety record, which is based on “Goal Zero,” a performance program and culture in which our employees and contractor partners deeply care about each other, working safely, the environment, and our neighbors.

With Goal Zero, the safety and wellbeing of every person inside and outside the fence line is our top priority. It is a personal and organizational commitment to achieve our goal of zero injuries, incidents, violations, or anything that can negatively impact our workforce, neighbors, or the environment.

We work relentlessly to cultivate a Goal Zero culture.

Spent catalyst release

We know we must always earn the right to operate in the Martinez community and are very disappointed we did not live up to that, or to our Goal Zero culture, during the spent catalyst release that occurred the night of November 24, 2022. We thoroughly investigated the release and implemented appropriate corrective actions at the refinery. For more information on our response to the release, see the Refinery Events page.
