About us
Martinez Refining Company (MRC) manufactures the cleanest motor fuels in the world, providing an affordable and reliable supply of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel to the Bay Area.
Our refinery is located on 860 acres and contains 35 process units, each of which plays an important role in how we turn crude oil into fuels that help provide the highest standards of mobility in history.
Our daily workforce consists of 585 full-time employees and 300 embedded contractors. Additionally, 1,000+ Building Trades craftworkers are added during the refinery’s major maintenance activities, which we call “turnarounds.”
In 2024, MRC provided (approximately):
- 25% of the Bay Area’s gasoline supply
- 55% of Oakland and Sacramento Airports’ jet fuel supply
- 40% of San Jose and San Francisco Airports’ jet fuel supply
Martinez Refinery was built in 1915 with significant expansions made in the 1960s, 1980s, and 1990s. Today, it is a modern refinery with advanced automation, controls, and technology. MRC purchased the refinery from Shell in 2020 for $1 Billion and continues to make annual reinvestments in the site between $100 to $300 Million.

We are seeking a talented Yield Analyst to join the PBF Energy team and play a key role while working out of MRC.
The Yield Analyst reports to the Director of Business Process and is a part of our financial team. They support the refinery’s reporting of production through accurate recording of shipments, receipts and inventory and will work closely with operations, inspectors, and schedulers to ensure that all refinery inventories and movements are captured daily.

The Fish are finally coming home after a long journey all the way to the Pecos League Championship in Garden City Kansas, and we want to give them the welcome they deserve!
Join Downtown Martinez & Co., and the City of Martinez, CA, THIS Wednesday at 6:00 PM on the Main Street Plaza for the 2026 Sturgeon Season Closing Ceremony as we celebrate the most successful season in franchise history.
The City of Martinez and City Council will be presenting the team with a special proclamation honoring their historic Pacific Division Championship, and we’ll have one more chance to celebrate, thank, and say goodbye to our players before they head home.
From the first pitch to the final out, Martinez showed up for this team. ❤️🎣
Now let’s show up one more time.
Come celebrate our Fish, relive an incredible summer, and send our boys home in true Martinez style!

Our MRC School Supply Drive for Las Juntas Elementary was a success! Thanks to individual donations from employees, contract partners, and refinery alumni, when school starts this week, students at Las Juntas Elementary will have the school supplies they need.
Principal Patty Crespo said, "This is life-changing for us. We unfortunately don't have a lot of resources, but this means every student will have crayons, Post-it Notes, highlighters, pens, and every desk will be filled with the supplies they need for a strong academic year."
Last year, the Bullpups raised their math, English, and science test scores, and we're cheering them on for another successful year.
